Cornhole For A Cause
WHITEHOUSE STATION, NJ — QuickChek Corp., which has been named one of the best places to work in New Jersey and New York State, continues to take care of its own.
More than 250 company executives, employee team members and vendors of the fresh convenience market chain created a giant outdoor cornhole tournament at QuickChek’s corporate headquarters in Whitehouse Station, NJ on Thursday, September 30, 2021 to raise money for the QuickChek Family Fund to support employee team members who may suffer a hardship during the year.
For more than 16 years, QuickChek has conducted events throughout the year to support the Family Fund, which is supported solely by employees and company vendors. The QuickChek Family Fund also supplies toys and gift cards to team member families in need to ensure that their upcoming winter holidays will be brighter.
A highlight of the company’s fundraising efforts is an annual event that transforms its corporate headquarters and support center.
This year the company staged the highly popular cornhole lawn game in which players take turns throwing bean bags at a raised platform (board) with a hole in the far end. Points are scored for tossing a bag in the hole as well as for landing a bag on the board. Proper COVID-19 safety precautions and measures were in place during the outdoor event.
Past events have seen the iconic c-store chain turn its front lawn into a miniature golf course complete with city themes and participants dressing in character.
QuickChek enjoys the rare distinction of being named one of the “Best Places to Work” in New Jersey 10 times by NJBIZ magazine and one of the “Best Companies to Work For” in New York State nine times by the New York State Society for Human Resources Management.
The company was also named as one of “America’s Best Employers” by Forbes in 2018.
QuickChek enjoys a long history of giving back to its communities, having raised more than $6 million in the past seven years in support of a variety of causes benefiting children, families, military veterans, and community food banks.
A wholly-owned subsidiary of Murphy USA, QuickChek is a market leader in the fresh convenience industry employing more than 4,600 people with 159 store locations throughout New Jersey, New York’s Hudson Valley and Long Island.
