CEDAR KNOLLS, NJ — New Jersey Governor Chris Christie visited QuickChek’s newest store in Cedar Knolls on Thursday, March 23 to support the Whitehouse Station, NJ-based fresh convenience market chain’s 50 years of growth from a single location into a market leader with 148 locations and 4,050 employees team members in conjunction with an announcement about jobs and the economy.

QuickChek, now a fabric of local communities throughout the state known for its fresh food and perhaps best known for its coffee which was voted “Best in America” in a national consumer survey in 2014, opened its first store on March 15, 1967 in Dunellen, NJ.

“QuickChek is a good news company,” said Governor Christie in citing the chain’s continued growth and success in an address on positive job growth in the state held in the company’s newest store which created 45 new local jobs when it opened February 28, 2017.

“I want to thank Dean Durling and the folks at QuickChek, they’re a great New Jersey company and I appreciate the investment they’re making in our state.”

The family-owned company has enjoyed solid steady growth, opening 40 new stores and hiring an additional 1,400 team members over the past nine years through innovation and its focus on fresh products and friendly employees serving local communities throughout the Garden State, as well as the Hudson Valley and Long Island.

In 2016, QuickChek was named the National Convenience Store Chain of the Year by Convenience Store Decisions magazine out of 57,031 chains nationwide.

The latest federal employment data was released today, showing private-sector employment under Governor Christie reaching a record high, as the state’s unemployment rate is falling and job growth and labor participation rates are outpacing the national rates.

In February, New Jersey employers added 12,300 private-sector jobs, while the state’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.4 percent, below the national rate of 4.7 percent, according to preliminary data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
